What a week... this program is wearing me out and its only the second week. My internship is in full swing, and the office is getting busy. They are preparing for a conference being held in GA at the end of the month, and I've been helping with the planning. I've also been monitoring listserves looking for articles for the policy update that I write weekly, and going to meetings and things.
Classes are also in full swing, and I'm spending a chunk of the weekend studying for a midterm. The seminar class I'm taking is to teach us how Washington really works, and it is pretty depressing. I keep hearing that everyone is only looking out for themselves, and that you have to be careful what you say and who you make connections with. I love the city now, but I am a little worried about how I would hold up over time. Not to mention the cost of living...
I don't think I would want to keep working in the type of nonprofit I'm at now- I would like to look more into academic research or lobbying. Maybe next summer. And I'm also stuck between pursing women's issues or straight economics. Lots to think about over the next few years.
