I've been in D.C. for a week today, and am finally feeling moved in and caught up. I'm living on Georgetown University's campus in an apartment with four other politically minded ladies. After a week, I can take the subway, figure out street directions, and commute in heels.
I'm only two days into my internship, but it seems promising. As federal policy intern, I'm monitoring listserves for reports and events from partner organizations that I will later compile into the weekly policy update newsletter. I'll also be working on updating databases and making spreadsheets for Self-Sufficiency standards in all the counties in the U.S. My favorite part though is attending meetings and briefings, then reporting back to WOW. My first day, I attended a meeting of the National Coalition of Women's Organizations, and met women from a bunch of different feminist nonprofit organizations. The women were all incredible, and so interested in my thoughts and in helping to connect me with people in the feminist community. It is really inspiring being around so many women (and men) who are involved in feminism and convinced that changes can be made.Compare Prices
