“Moonlight, a little red trolley and WashDC at its best”
I signed us up for the moonlight tour by internet. Despite the ease and popularity of using the internet, it is still a risky 'activity' as the webpage said, 'seat/day/time not guaranteed', "first come first serve". Not good. I called, was reassured as to the 'way to assure' ourselves a seat was to get there early to pick up our tickets.
We were given directions to find the trolley company at Union station. The directions weren't great. Union Station is wonderful, but overwhelming and confusing in its signage. AND did you know their are numerous trolley/tour companies located at Union Station? I didn't.
We eventually found our trolly tour company (the one we signed up with was located at the front side of Union Station). This trolley company had better trolleys than the other (they had shower curtain plastic type windows, we had real plastic like windows). The trolley bus driver was very knowledgeable and interacted well with us with humor. I often answered his questions, embarassing the 15 yr old who was with me. We visited all the major tourist sites and were able to get out for a few minutes at most of the sites. There was plenty of time for this, except the FDR Memorial was too crowded to move rapidly through the different areas and the crowds hogged all the photo ops.
Overall, quite a memorable experience and one of the highlights of our short weekend.
