The Le Meridien has one of the best locations in Warsaw: situated on the Royal Route, it is equidistant from the Old Town and the shops and restaurants of Nowy Swiat and only a short cab ride from the central business district. The very comfortable hotel boasts historical interiors with an Art Nouveau lobby and not-to-be-missed Column Bar. The more than one hundred year old building has been completely renovated; the renovation retained all of the building’s charm while adding modern amenities. We had a junior suite facing the interior courtyard and enjoyed the comfort, quiet and tasteful furnishings. The marble bathroom was spacious (even though the shower was too small) and the entire suite was a relaxing break from the bustle of modern Warsaw. We really enjoyed the delicious breakfast served in the courtyard on the first floor and would recommend this option for any visitor. Staying at the Le Meridien reminded us that a modern business hotel need not have the most up-to-minute elements: despite the “lack” of plasma televisions, black-clad service personnel, smoked glass and special lighting, the Le Meridien is a vivid reminder that history often trumps modernity. While no longer the newest hotel in Warsaw, the Le Meridien is undoubtedly one of the best and we would certainly recommend it to others.
