Leaving a rainy Franz Josef, we started our drive down to Wanaka. First we made a brief stop at Fox but couldn't see much due to the weather so ended up being more of a coffee/food stop than anything. I had a delicious hot chocolate which cheered me up as the constant rain had started to get bit annoying! By the time we reached Wanaka itself the weather had cleared so we were able to walk around Wanaka without getting wet which made a nice change! We arrived there during the middle of the afternoon so had a bit of time to have a wander round and go down to the Lake front which is absolutely gorgeous. Wanaka is a really beautiful place with the lovely lake and mountains as a back drop, and as the rain had stopped for a bit we were able to get some photos at least! We were also staying at a nice place called the Wanaka Hotel, and even had our own bath which is bit of a luxury when backpacking! Made the most of it and had nice relaxing bath although when i was turning the tap off It somehow came loose and hot water was spraying eveywhere but thankfully with Lynn's help finally managed to switch if off but took a while! We also had a TV in our room so was able to watch a couple of films so had nice relaxing night in! Defintely one of the nicest dorms had stayed in so thought defintely had to make the most of it!
The following morning we only had a short time in Wanaka before we made the short drive to Queenstown. We went to place called Puzzling World, which was a lot of fun. The best bits there were the outdoor maze and the illusion room which was very fun! For the first time in ages it was really sunny so were able to get some more nice views of Wanaka! It was especially nice for Lynn as it was her birthday. It was funny as for the past few days our bus driver Bods had been joking about the weather and saying how it would be lovely from 1st December as officially start of summer and it did seem that way, the sun was very welcome after a week of pretty much constant rain! Was quite sad to be leaving Wanaka as such a pretty place. Defintely somewhere I would like to stay longer if go back to New Zealand.
