Wall was cute and kitschy, a nice change of pace. We only stayed for a bit – it was a tourist trap, albeit a fun one, and we wanted to get back to the parks. We decided to stay at Custer State Park which apparently is best known for its wildlife and its 18 mile wildlife loop road and needle pass road. On the map, it looked like the Badlands and the Black Hills were pretty close, but the whole area covers a decent amount of land, and scenically they are like night and day. The stark plains and colored striped rock formations of the Badlands clashed with the lush greenery and trees and…well...giant bison of the Black Hills.
