Susan says:

We drove into Wahweap, a marina campsite on Lake Powell, as a stopover on our way to Zion. It was a grudging stop, out of necessity rather than a desire to stay in an overly developed, for-profit, crowded campground that was essentially a dirt-covered parking lot for a bunch of people with RV's and large powerboats. The one redeeming feature was the view of Lake Powell from the road and the incredible rock formations it was burying. It would be even lovelier if they would just drain the powerboat playground and expose the canyon walls to their original state, letting the Colorado do its thing. Rant over- off to Zion!

Debbie says: The scenery around Wahweap was a lot cooler than i was expecting but the campsite was.... well, read above. Our camp was about 10 metres from a rectangular toilet that beamed light out of its little windows and people staying here must have had bladder problems because there was a constant stream of folk going in and out. on the otherhand we had a family consisting of roughly 18 children that were pitched a couple of metres from us. on the plus side, susan made me hotdogs for dinner that night washed down with triple vodka tonics to help us get through the night. i think we were up around 7am and got the f**k out of dodge. Next up... Zion National Park. This is the bit that i've been looking forward to most. dx
