I had kind of nightmares or so last night. It
was a night of Mosquitos or anothers Vampires that did soak all night
long from my blood. Their buzz woke me up all swetty, and all my good
dreams was gone... Two hours, that was what from the last night left,
was a nightmare about... Another buzz that woke me up was an alarm...
better to wake up, get up, and leave, than leave the unknown insect to
bite the rest that left from me.
6 a clock the alarm rang a shook all the
house. 6:30 we supposed to be at the bus station, so we took a quick
shower and thanks to almost wraped suit cases, we put last wanted
pieces, checked the turtle shell if protected with towels, and dirty
clothes, get down stairs, looked for last time for the kitchen in
Blue-white Greek style, and left to catch up the bus on time. The
travel plan was go to Thessaloniki through Almiros and Volos. Not so
many buses go right to Volos, we did choose this on in the morning, and
did not need to change in Almiros. In return for it we had about six
hours to feel free in Volos, before have a continue bus to
Thessaloniki. While this while we have had a nice walk towards the
Harbour, have seen a couple of very few churches hided inside of new
style buildings, such a shame that they are almost invisible,
dissapeared into other houses of the same color like a chameleon...
At one a clock we had we had a randez-vous near
Bazilik of Konstantin with Chariton, Miki & Lucy which have been a
their round trip today. Chariton, the priest of Amaliapolis did
recomand us one TABEPNA in this surrounding and we went there to have
some "Shari Fishes Dishes" together. Chariton Melemes is 36 years old with a
long beard and an extremly long fingers at his hands. He is really like
a Saint picture... Hmmm, yummy sea fishes, lot of greek dips and a lot
of water to trink... Oops, we gotta go to cath the bus to Thessaloniki
on time! The time is running, even if during lunch break, kinda siesta
lazy hours here in Greece.
Asked for a check to pay, enjoyed a few
slices of cool >>> yellow melon - pepone >>> and
>>> watermelon - karpuzi >>> that came with the bill
as a summertime tradition. On the way to the Bus station we took some
turistic keepers as pictures of churches we passed by. Seeing that we
have gotten 30 more minutes to get to the Bus station, we did calm down
a bit, but the temperature what just appear on the top of one high
building about 38°C, so we get tired of this knowledge...
How great to set in the airconditioned Bus,
as fancy for us, as daily bread for Greeks. I have had about three
hours to write this pages in the Bus. Thessaloniki is ten times bigger
than Prague, down town thousends fashion stores, not as many
restaurants as Bars. Pitas and Baklavas as traditional Greek fast food
everywhere. We did stop by one of Bars across the most popular, and
frequent street I have ever seen, but the snail style that those cars
kept move was not as noisy, so we enjoyed our fresh orange juice and
the view on the shipy horizont of a beautiful Greek sea, of course
above those cars roofs level...
I am wondering if they do have two different
prices list over here. In a few hours this place has been changed into
a full, occupied Street Bar, intead of an empty beer garden where we
set and could not wait till a waitress came... Five euros for a glass
of orange juice, even with in a half full of eis, is kinda fancy
refreshment...
Bought a few pieces of crispy Cheese pita, some of
traditional baklavas at first corner of fast food we stop by on our way
to Jordanus House at Panorama Village.
Such an interesting classic kind of Greek House.
Covered ambit style with main columnes corroborative floors and the
roof of East and West wings of the House. Meandr decorative motives
above the fire place which probably wasn't used for a long while than a
winter season is... Looked more like a Saint space for some Saint
picture to fits in the skirt frame. Classic Greek ornaments on the top
of columnes and stucco deco arround every lustre, made with a good
taste, and a sense to keep as classic style in present as is
possible, but the modern shiny pieces...
Good night Thessaloniki, let is our dream of tonight with a sun in our souls.
Recipe of today
Fish in yoghurt
The thick yoghurt is an excellent
way to protect the fish during cooking and also absorbs some of the
fishy stink and sting from hot chilies, for best results use a thick,
set yoghurt.
500g God fish or another skinless white fresh fish fillets
3 tablespoons oil
1 chopped onion
2 tablespoons finely chopped ginger
6 cloves crushed garlic
1 Greek-style yoghurt
4 chopped green chilies
cilantro leaves to serve
Cut each fish fillet into four pieces and thoroughly pat them dry.
Heat the oil in a heavy-based pan over low heat and fry the onion until
softened and lightly browned. Add the ginger and garlic, and stir for 2
minutes. Add the yoghurt and chilies, and bring to a boil, then cover
and simmer for 10 minutes.
Add the pieces of fish and continue to simmer for 10-12 minutes or
until the fish flakes easily and is cooked through. Do not overcook or
the fish will give off liquid and the sauce will separate.
Garnish with cilantro leaves and serve immediately. If you let the
dish sit, the fish may give off liquid and make the sauce more runny.
