Off again, our next stop, Visegrád. http://en.wikipedia.org /wiki/Visegr%C3%A1d About 20kms away from Szentandre is the newly discovered castle of Visegrad. Formerly the royal seat of Hungary its most famous for hosting a 2-month long congress between the kings of Bohemia (John of Luxembourg), Poland (Casimir III) and Hungary and the important alliance against Habsburg Austria.
Long since abandoned & in disrepair the castle is worth a veiwing from down below on the national road or closer up but dont pay to get in and expect to see a well organised tour & museum, its really not worth the time & money. The views from the nearby bus stop are just as impressive.
We only stopped to take a photo or 2 from below the castle and then drove up to see the view of the Danube from above, to be honest the castle really isnt worth a visit as its turned into a tourist-orientated money-making rip-off but hey, go and experience it for yourself.
