And so to Livingstone and the home of the Victoria Falls. It's difficult to understand quite how the locals hadn't come across them before David Livingstone came and found them in the mid 1800s but there you are.

The falls are pretty impressive with up to ten million litres of water per second falling over them at peak times (March - April). We're here in the low water season although you wouldn't know that from the rain we've been having.

The camp site we were due to be staying at (Waterside) was completely flooded and we had to move to Fawlty Towers to get indoor accommodation. It's a budget accommodation place but we were really grateful for it last night when it rained for ten hours straight.

That's ten hours straight down with monsoon velocity.

The site owner has been here for ten years and says hasn't seen rain like it. The government has mobilised its Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit and has launched a 34 Bn Kwacha disaster relief fund.

Personally I think its down to Annette and me. We have a history of it raining heavily where its not meant too and on this trip we've already started rioting in Kenya and now flooding in Zambia.

Two other stories have caught my eye in the news whilst we've been here.

The first is that police are searching for a bus driver who knocked a man down and then buried him alive in the local cemetary where he was subsequently found by mourners at a funeral near by. The press report noted that bus and taxi drivers are notoriously lacking in morals and that it is an offence to bury people before they are dead. (Who knew?)

The second story was quoted from the BBC and attributed the recent $100 per barrel oil price to a trader willing to take a $600 dollar loss to be the first person to buy oil at $100.

Strange the things that catch you're eye.

So it's your fault it always rained on holiday - I spent years blaming mum and dad! Stay safe - and relatively dry. You shouldn't get TOO bogged down in the truck but I wouldn't fancy trying to push it! love Liz x

Hello Rainbusters. Glad to see you've taken over the mantle of Rainbusters.(a la Ghostbusters). At one point we had thought of setting up a business and travelling to drought stricken areas, guaranteeing that within minutes of our arrival the heavens would open. What I'm not glad about is the fact that a residue of Dave and Annette persists in dear old Blighty where it has virtually rained non-stop for a week. I presume your rain in Africa is a lot warmer though. Enjoying keeping up with the travelogue. Best wishes to you both Safe journeys
