Cannaregio is a great area to stay in - where a lot of Venetians live. This hotel is recently converted and many of the rooms have a living area downstairs and a mezzanine level with the bedroom right into the roof. The roof beams are exposed and you can see the interior rooftiles just above your head - be warned the roof is quite low up there! It is a really unusual hotel and is in a great part of town - nearest vaporetto is St Alvise. It's not too overpriced like the many hotels around St Marks Square but like anything in Venice it isn't far to walk anywhere. The staff were welcoming and polite too!
