The first thing I appreciated about this little three star hotel in Venice was the fact that they had a private dock on a little canal just off the Venice Lagoon. Our water taxi was able to drop us easily and the hotel staff let us store our luggage (as our room would not be ready for several hours- we had just disembarked from the Royal Clipper and it was early) while we headed out to do some exploration.

The staff was friendly and helpful with our questions. Our quoted cost included the breakfast buffet which was adequate. There were several tables in the lobby but my husband & I took advantage both mornings we were there and sat at one of the two tables just outside the hotel entrance on Via Garibaldi. It was fun to begin the day by relaxing and watching the neighborhood awaken and start it's day with normal everyday errand and business activities. Just across the way was a newstand that was a center of a lot of that activity.

We stayed in room# 204, a nice upstairs room decorated in blues and yellows with a window that overlooked the lagoon. Also, the air conditioned rooms were an absolute must in the hot, humid June days. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom was small but adequate. The only problem was the lack of shelf space for us to store our toiletries.

We also appreciated the fact that the hotel had a wireless internet connection. This is definitely going to be at the top of my priority list for future hotel reservations.

I would have ordinarily rated this hotel a three but the local neighborhood atmosphere (and seeming lack of the hordes of tourists), several close nighborhood eateries, combined with the view of the water for a very reasonable $214. per night (this is Venice, after all!) have led me to give it a four rating.

G'day,My name is Kel from Oz. My wife and I are planning a similar trip to Italy. I also read your blog on Lake Como, and believe we have similar interests. Is there a way to access your complete itinerary and blogs from here?
