We officially have international cell phones!

It is free for us to recieve your calls, and probably not that expensive for you to call us (remember, it is 6 hours earlier in Venice than the east coast, 9 hours earlier than California).

Jen: (01139)340-276-6977

Abbey: (01139)340-314-9823

We had our first class (actually, we're sitting in it right now - enjoying the open internet!).

We have (for the next two weeks) Law and Development in Emerging Economies with Professor Randall Thomas - who we both already love.

The class doesn't focus on economics, but instead on social policies and the implementation of laws and governments (and implications of development for the West as third world countries' development).

Most days we will spend 2 hours in class, but for the first two days we spend 4 - but we're always done by 1:00pm!  Perfect for us to explore.

Jen went to the "Lido" on Monday, the beach island just off the coast of Venice; it was beautiful!

Abbey insted when in search of a hairdryer (after rocking the ponytail for a week and a half, it was time to find one with a European outlet).

We had gone grocery shopping earlier in the day on Monday and stocked our apartment, and also stopped by the market for some fresh produce.

We made our first Italian dinner of Ravioli Monday night (with canned sauce... don't tell the Italians), fresh baked bread (not by us, we're not that cool), and some delicious, fresh cheese.

After doing some reading, we headed off for a nightly walk and some gelato - and decided we may need to start making that a tradition!

We have decided to head to Vienna, Austria this weekend on an overnight train - we have a 4 day weekend, which is wonderful!

We are both looking forward to traveling to another country - especially one that was once home to Maria and the Von Trapps.

Abbey and Jen plan on singing the soundtrack to the movie through the entire countryside (though unfortunately, we probably won't go on the Sound of Music Tour, since it costs $100 and takes the entire day - by bus - to the other side of the country).

We haven't really taken advantage of Venice yet, but we're hoping to change that.

We have a class field trip to some of the outlying islands on Thursday, and are planning to hit up at least one museum before departing for Vienna.

We had another attempt at dinner on Tuesday night, another delicious feast!

We had potato gnocchi with pesto sauce (Abbey added some fresh olives to hers).

Again, we bought it from the store, we're not sweet enough to know how to cook gnocchi ourselves.

But, it was still delicious!  And, much cheaper than going to a restaurant here - so we can save money for Austria!
