“Tubing...dirty and tiring good fun!” |
Well i got to Vang Vieng. Have decided that it isnt the boats that are the problem in Laos...its the entire transport system. They dont have trains, so to get here i had to get a public bus. OMG i have never felt more like throwing myself out of somewhere or chewing off my arm so i could beat myself to DEATH with it!! For one, i got there at 10am since the bus was supposed to go at 10.30...only it didnt..because there wasnt enough people. "Fine" i thought, "il just go and get some food and work out my budget"...and then so the bus comes and off we go. Im already pissed because ive been made to pay 10,000 Kip more because its got aircon until i get on and then realise that the aircon doesnt even WORK!!!
It was also not 7 hours, like it said, but closer to 11 since they stopped to pick randomers up off the roads, and stopped for fag breaks AND dinner!!! Oh deary dear i thought. Still when i got there i got into a nice hotel, only about 2 pounds a night/4 dollars!! Went out and met up with the people who id met in Luang Prabang, whod had a lovely time on their luxery little mini bus, before having some sleep and waking up refreshed and ready for the next day...
Woke up and after a wander around to get myself used to the place, me and some other people went tubing..sounds complicated but is actually very simple but extremely fun idea, all countries should have it!! You put your bikini on and head down to the river, armed with a rubber ring/tractor tyre inner tube, jump in and relax down the river with no cares in the world apart from which of the bamboo huts/bars youre going to stop at!
I even suprised myself and even with the fear of heights climbed up one of the bamboo towers (egged on by the boys who had all done it) and grabbed the bar, which is attached to a long wire and jumped off...biggest adrenalin rush to date i think, so much fun!! Youre flying through the air holding onto this bar above the river, and then you just let go into the water!! Did it alone and with someone else, such a laugh!
Afterwards i came back, dryed myself off before throwing away another white top (i never realised that sand stained) and went out to meet everyone for dinner..had a steak, first good one ive had here, didnt realise how hungry i was!! Couldnt be bothered drinking so stayed on the coke and then afterwards went to a reggae bar where you could lie back and listen to music while lying on these bed/pillow/sofa type things. The place even had beer crates with lights inside them-nothing like it in Yorkshire like Al put it!

My girlfriend Jess said you look like the actress from the movie Underworld - don't know if you've seen it or not. Anyway I agree tubing is indeed very fun, we have an annual tubing trip with our family, maybe if one of your visits coincide with our tubing trips you could join us. Well glad to see you are both intact. Keep updating, I enjoying reading about your adventures, and again stay safe!
