Karen Watkins June 2008: Wow, halfway through the year. India was fantastic but travelling with someone has spoilt me and it's not so much fun travelling alone. I went to Ghana end of April for two weeks, four would have been better, to see the north and Lake Volta and the mountains in the east. I'm still enjoying the community newspapers but find it takes up almost all of my time, but then I'm still single so what the heck. I haven't been hiking much because we had a hot summer but I'm back into it again although slow on the descent because of my sore hip. Still cycling to work about three times each week but the days are getting shorter and we seem to be having lots of rain. And as for dreams, they're still the same: the elusive Travel Writer Award must be out there somewhere, and it has my name on it. And the more elusive dream of interviewing Osama bin Laden is a little tiny piece closer. Don’t laugh. After all, what’s the point of being here if we don’t dream.
