Lady Carmels Adventure Having left Ireland alone on 30th June 2007, my first stop was Singapore and from there I have made my way slowly across SE Asia taking in the following countries along the way - Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam, Philippines, Hong Kong, Macau and Indonesia. It is hard to single out one country that I have liked the most as all have been so different but if forced I would list Laos, Vietnam, Philippines & Indonesia in my top 4 - all for different reasons. After 5 months on the backpacker trail in South East Asia I made my way back to Singapore to catch a flight to Perth where I crashed with my mate Joe from home & his housemate Derek & also spent time with my family there. It was so nice to enjoy home luxuries again after so long on the road living out of a backpack. After 3 weeks in Perth Niall and I headed to Sydney in time for the Christmas & New Years celebrations and then decided that we would stop & settle in Sydney to live a normal life for a while. We are now both working & living in Sydney & life is good! No definite travel plans have been made for the next leg of the backpacker journey but watch this space!...read more »
