Instead of struggling in Melbourne trying to find work, I decided to take advantage of the cheap air fares in Aus and take myself off to Tassie for a week. What a great idea that was, I had a blast! Tasmania is a beautiful part of Aus, much greener and more picturesque than anything I had seen so far!

I flew into Hobart and spent a couple of days exploring the small but pretty city. There is quite alot to see, the Salamanca Market, Mt Wellington etc. I also did a day trip to Port Arthur which is where all the British convicts were kept when they arrived in Aus.

Then i hired a little car and took myself off on a road trip around the island. Now there's not that many people in Tasmania and most of them live in Hobart, so once you get out the city, everywhere is very quiet! However the people are so friendly and every shop, hostel or cafe i went to, somebody would stop me for a little chat.

The National Parks are stunning, 2 of them are World Heritage sites. Stopped in Freciynet NP to see the stunning Wineglass Bay, then headed off to Cradle Mountain where the walks were good and the scenery spectacular. Travelled through some tiny towns and cute villages. The food was great and met some real characters.

People seem to ignore Tas when they visit Aus, but I would really recommend it to anyone, it was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute!
