Lets see here,
I've been here for almost three weeks. I am living in a town called Taoyuan. I like it here, its a very relaxed little place, and not much going on. This is why I call it the Oshawa of Taiwan, lots of restaurants and little businesses. ha..Im sure my view will change as I explore more!
Here is how it all happened: Dad and sissina drove me to the airport, and Bri had to work while Mom stayed back and watched mini-boy. As I arrived at the airport my dearest darling friends Caley and Morgan came to see me off and brought me my sunglasses (which i forgot in Caleys car weeks before) and some treaties! Sadly, a week later I lost those sunglasses in a taxi coming home from the beach near Taipei grrrr Damnit (I digress, thats another story all together). We met up with Adam and Andrea and off we were to board a plane to New york. The trip went as so: ,
Toronto --> NewYork --->Anchorage Alaska---> Taiwan! It was an immensely long flight, but I brought snacks, music and a beauty mask to ensure good rest. It really wasnt that bad. We landed and it was hot hot hot in Taiwan and a guy named Steve (who works at my school) picked Andrea, Adam and I up and drove us to the dormitory. There we were given our ridiculous jail cell bedrooms along with a key to the dorm. We were greeted by about 20 other Canadians and Americans, which ease the culture shock quite a bit. I still feel like I am not in a different country. There are so many foreigners constantly around.
I think my favourite thing so far is my ability to call myself and be called regularly "A FOREIGNER". I am greeted by taiwanese people as "oh hello, you are the new foreigner". Its awesome! Everyone is very very nice! I will write more later about very cool interesting Chinese/Taiwanese customs.
okay that is all for now! I will write all about my favourite things anotehr day!
love to all

Hi. I randomly came across your blog. I'm teaching close to Taoyuan as well and I'm also a fellow Ontarian. I've been her since October. I hope you are enjoying Taiwan!

Hello. My name is Kim....yet another foreigner...American. I was researching some Taiwan travel for the Chinese New Year vacation and came across your blog. I am also teaching in Taoyuan, though I don't meet many foreigners. Guess I'm networking myself here. I was traveling before I came here to teach...at random, and have been here for about six months now. I'm wondering how your outlook is on Taoyuan these days. Are you still liking it? Also, I am curious about the beach you were surfing at. Where is it close to? I hope your Taiwan experience is proving to be a fruitful one.
