Tübingen is a traditional university town about 30 km away from Stuttgart.  Its small, but has the Neckar river running right through the center of town, where you can take rides on these Gondola like boats.  This town dates from the 6th or 7th century, and has lots of very pretty architecture.

I live in my Studentenwonheim (dorms) on top of the hill that overlooks the citx known as the WHO (Waldhäuser Ost).  To get down to the buildings where my classes are in or the Altstadt (for shopping and such) I take the bus.  Its only about a 10-15 minute ride.

There are about 22,000 students at my university, however currently its still just filling up because classes don't start until mid Oktober.  It is a big school for Medicine, the sciences, law and business.  It also has probably one of the best international programs for abroad students (which is why I chose this one).  This semester I am taking mainly all ISP (International Student Program) courses, German for foreigners so I can really beef up my language skills.  I will also sit in on a lecture of economics in German and English, to keep up my knowledge and learn the new vocabulary.

In the main part of the city there are mainy shops and pretty buildings.  My friends and I have become good friends with the owner of the Gummi Bear shop and many of the Gelato Cafes.  There is also a great Biergarten in the center of downtown  right on the Neckar with their own brewed beer and great food.

The Stiftskirche is the main church in the city.  Not far from the Rathaus (city hall).  There is also a castle way up top of the older city, its a bit of a hike but the payoff is a spectacular view!!

*Interesting fact, the man who invented or mainly discovered DNA, Friedrich Miescher, did so in Tübingen.
