Previously the capital of the Sukhothai Kingdom and now the site of the Sukhothai historical park, Sukhothai City is an interesting travel destination. An example of the many historic and spiritual sites here is the Wat Mahatat.  Tourists can also easily reach nearby Si Satchanalai from Sukhothai City by taxi, rented car, or private tour, and once inside travelers can see such sites as the Wat Chang Lom compound.
