Often we have never visited the sights just next door... That was how I has it with Stockholm. I had over and over again heard about the beauty of the city, but never taken the time to go there myself. So when then chance came across in the summer of 2000 I grapped it immediately.
Being from Scandinavia myself I found the vibe of Stockholm very similar to Denmark. However, it is always nice to experience new things and impressions. Gamla stan (the old part of Stockholm) right in the centre is extremely charming. The Kings castle is placed in the middle of it as a big landmark overlooking the waters, while tiny and narrow street circle in and out one another. Definitly a place to hold hands with you loved one or grap a 'sun downer' with your frieds, while you buzz over what you have done that day.
Besides that Stockholm is also know for all its small islands all along the shore. So what is more natural to take a small boat trip where you enjoy the sun, the beautiful nature and the view of the city from the sea.
One of my days there I grapped a bike and biked around seeing the different areas of the city and the different characteristics of them.
I tried to ask around for some of the more cultural sights that was worth seeing, but most people did not really point any out. So guess that will have to be another long weekend when I again pop by the Venize of the North.
Please note that Sweden like Denmark and Norway to most people seem extremely expensive.
