Sapa / Hanoi, North Vietnam

Having read in the guide book and spoken to other travellers who had recommed a visit to this northern mountian town high in the mountains about 80klm from the Chinese border I booked a train ticket in Hoi an and a 3 day trekking trip to minority villages in this remote region of Vietnam.

The landscape of mountains and steep valleys cobined with enless terraces of rice paddys is quite breathtaking, and perhaps I think to some degree a vision in my mind of what you would expect to see in rural Vietnam.

Its a wonderful place, although now very much on the ourist route, but definately worth having a few days here nonetheless.
