Technically it wasn’t the middle of nowhere – it was about 20 miles outside of Sioux Falls. We had been driving through an amazing lightening and rain storm; with how flat the land was, the whole sky kept lighting up. Unfortunately it was also about 2am and we were exhausted…then we realized there weren’t any hotels this far from Sioux Falls really, and headed to a tiny town that claimed to have 5 motels. Every one of them was closed, except one motel, which claimed to be full. But really there were only 3 cars in the parking lot, so I doubt it. Majorly frustrating. We drove on about 25 more miles and found another town with a ton of hotels which were all expensive. By this time it was 2:45am so we found the cheapest place and crashed. Not the best way to end the day but at least we got some much needed sleep.
