After a rather hectic morning of last-minute shopping, packing and cleaning we jumped in a taxi to get to Heathrow. We gave ourselves plenty of time to get to the airport so as to avoid traffic - and made it there in just under 45 minutes; all the while listing the things we'd forgotten to pack (only binoculars so far). Still, there's plenty to do at an airport including: going to WH Smith, getting money from Travelex and doing sudoku. It was nice to do not a lot without feeling bad about it!
The flight was pretty good. We were so tired we fell asleep and missed the 'evening meal' coming round, but we did wake up in time to be served the 'meexed grille' by the Spanish air hostess.
We were met by Caroline (Suz's best friend who lives in Singapore) at the airport and got the train to her flat. The first true Asian experience was a man with very very hairy ears (plaitable) which pleased Dom no end.
The 30 minute air-conditioned train ride was followed by a walk in what can best be described as the sultry Singapore evening (30-degrees) back to Caroline's flat. We've now settled in with traditional Asian cuisine (nachos and Ribena!), showers and a well-earned rest in a comfortable bed. Tomorrow we're off to the zoo and Underwater World (the aquarium). It's still not quite dawned on us that we won't be home until Christmas, but we're definitely very excited.

Glad you had a good flight! Have a top time in Singapore! Quality blog too - although I'd love to see the bloke with hairy ears. T.T.
