Some days, you just shouldn't get up in the morning...

Well, since everything has gone smoothly to date, it was about time for some excitement hey?

I got to the airport with a plan to phone the UK and do some duty free shopping (well I have started to enjoy shopping after all...) to find my flight was cancelled.  So after waiting for almost 2hours, I was finally seen by the harassed people that were trying to get travellors to their destination via other flights.

For me, that meant a flight via Sydney, so I can say that technically, I have now visited Australia, but the poor stressed clerk told me that meant the first flight would be without the special meal I normally order, but they would have that  sorted for the 2nd flight to Singapore.

Well that wasn't a big deal, so I took the flights offered and was told to go check in.  As I checked in, the computer the lady was using crashed (it was a sign i tell you that they didn't want me to leave, I'm sure of it), but after it was all sorted I was told my flight was starting to board... so much for the phone call and shopping...

As I got to Sydney, you get a great view over the city and was glad to hear that I had an hour before my next flight - time to shop :-D

On arrival at Singapore, a mere 3.5 hours after I was supposed to have originally been there, I was looking forward to my bed and a shower at the luggage carousel when I realised that I was stood there watching the same decreasing number of bags go round.... I may have got to Singapore, but my rucksack hadn't.

After reporting the missing luggage and faced with the fact I was booked into a dorm with only the clothes on my back, some money to buy essentials (courtesy of the airline) and nothing to change into, let alone towels to shower with and it was now 11pm, I checked into a hotel for some well deserved luxury.

So the upshot of it is, after 18 hours, I have spent the day shopping with their money, I phoned for an update and they can confirm that my backpack is:

NOT in Auckland
NOT in Sydney and....

NOT in Singapore

I am confident they will find it soon as they have significantly narrowed their options down after 18 hours, on where, in the world, my backpack isn't...
