Heading home…slowly

We left Auckland early early morning on Wednesday and landed 3ish hours later in Melbourne where we had an 8 hour stop over before heading on to Singapore. So we checked our luggage in all the way through but went landside and headed off to Melbourne Zoo to kill some time, which was fun.

Our flight was due to leave just after 5pm so we got back to the airport in plenty of time and began reflecting on how smooth and delay-free all our (twelve) flights had been so far. We obviously spoke too soon. The thirteenth flight was fated to be unlucky and, having sat in the plane for over two hours, we were informed that there was a problem with the pilot’s window. We were going to have to wait for the aviation equivalent of autoglass to come and fix it and they were based in Sydney. So, off we all got again and hung around the terminal until reboarding, finally taking off at about 10.30pm.

Got to the hotel in Singapore 24 hours after having started the journey and crashed out…
