Singapore has the most relaxing, Zen airport Susan and Michelle have ever experienced.  After the last 48 hours, they are officially airport experts.

The trip on Air Canada all the way through Calgary and on to LAX was as confusing and uncomfortable as any Air Canada flight, according to Susan anyway.  Michelle had about 11 minutes of total consciousness, so she can't really say for sure.  LAX was Susan's first visit to AMERICA, and she found that it was "a lot like a mall".  Everyone they ran in to immediately identified them as Canadian backpackers, and had at least one or two places that they "had to visit".  The girls have got a great list of future destinations already, and the plan of having no plan is working out well.  The strategy of smiling and asking random strangers for directions has proven quite effective, and everyone has been more than happy to help.

Air Singapore was everything everyone told the girls to expect, and more.  They marked the girls with bright orange shoulder stickers at check in, then kept close tabs on them for their remaining wanderings.  Susan was pretty sure that the sticker was code for "stupid tourist", so she saved it in her journal to consult CutieCook later.  After watching all of the network television available, Michelle sat down to a solid three hours of Pokemon, all from the magic remote in each seat.  Susan tried for a few minutes to teach herself mandarin (there were seven language courses available) and then settled in to travel documentaries.  The food was fantastic, the coffee strong, and the seats tiny. The individual tv's also provided up to the second updates on the flight status, such as speed (up to 905 km/hr!!), the outside temperature (-55C!).

The stop in Taipei was extremely short, and the girls were shocked by the flight crew's "directions" to come back in "around 45 minutes".  Unlike most domestic carriers, Air Singapore will actually PAGE missing passengers instead of abandoning them, lost.  Needless to say, Michelle and Susan arrived a little early, just in case.

The girls disembarked at the Singapore Airport pretty unruffled after 20 hours of flying and enjoyed the Orchid and Fern gardens, and relaxed contemplatively by the Koi pond.  So civilized!

The girls feel great about have nothing to worry about beyond where to find the perfect sweet bun (and they have some pretty solid leads on that one) for the last leg of the trip and what to wear to the beach tomorrow...pictures of fantastic airport adventures soon to come!  The intrepid duo haven't really slept much, and hours of computer games have really finished off their remaining mental capacity, so it's great that they are nearing the end of the flights.
