We, along with many others from all around the world, got up early to start climbing mt sinai at about 5am to see the sunrise from the summit. It was a pretty long walk up (the many camels offered along the way were tempting but i walked right to the top), but the sunrise was definitely worth it. There was a pesky cloud sitting in front of the sun right as it started to rise, so it was a bit delayed - but when the cloud moved it was pretty spectacular. I walked up the camel path, and for something different I walked down the 3000 steps of repetence. I'm still not sure why but half way down this path there were hundreds of rock piles - not sure of the significance of this but it was an impressive sight all the same!
