I'm Impressed
Our first dinner in Cambodia and I couldnt' have chosen a more suitable place. Khmer Family was also on my "must eat" list but I have forgotten how I got about choosing this restaurant. Upon further investigation, I found out that it belong to the Golden Temple Villa Hotel that also runs Temple Club (just down the road) and Khmer Food Restaurant. I guessed it's quite new because our Tuk-Tuk driver did not know its location but luckily we had spotted it earlier in the afternoon. Anyway, it's just a few doors down from Red Piano.
G-L-A-M-O-R-O-U-S and laid back
That was the impression I got of this restaurant. The bright orange interior surprisingly blended well with interior of the restaurant. Initially we sat on the ground floor but eventually moved up to the first floor and got a table at the edge, which had a nice view of Pub Street and the restaurants on the opposite side. It sure was interesting observing the happenings on the street and absorbing all the sights and sounds.
Best AMOK
We had AMOK almost everyday (until I was quite sick of it) and in my opinion, this restuarant served the best AMOK. The texture was just nice and it sure was tasty. We ordered a set that consisted of 3 dishes and also AMOK as a separate dish. The waitress was concerned that we could not finish the food and tried to talk us out of ordering so much food but we persisted. It was the right decision, we finished everything!
Below was what we ordered:
- Set that consist of Spring Roll (not the deep fried variety), Stir Fry Pork and Curry Chicken
- Amok with Rice
- Blue Hawaii Cocktail
The meal cost us USD 14 but it was well worth it. I would recommend to anybody who is going to Siem Reap to try this restaurant.
