If one more Spanish boy yells, kisses, smooches, hollars, says "Hello, how are you, I love you." at me one more time, I will freak. The Spaniards have clearly never seen women before! And they ran off all the young Spanish girls so all they have left are the students who come here! And my favorite is that we understand everything they are saying but just keep walking because if you give them even so much as a look in the eyes they will not leave you alone! And some of them know some english and yes the phrase "Hello, how are you. I love you" has been used!
We have been called a princessa, guapa, bonita, and other choice words. And most of the time we laugh it off but I´m just about at the end of my rope with it. We could look really gross and still get yelled at...and half the time it is just to torment us. And we ignore it, and most of the time it really isn´t that big of a deal. But some days I just want to turn around and say, if we were in the US I would break your nose for the things you have said and tell your Mama so that she beat you when you got home! Haha, makes American boys look real good!
ANYWAY, that was my rant for the day...just so everyone is clear, Segovia is really safe and there are always lots of people around and police drive the streets where all the young people hang out frequently. And sometimes it is funny, like when they called us like were dogs...we actually laughed out loud at that one. Besides I think that if we turned and gave this kids any attention whatsoever, they would probably fall over and start drooling and not know what to do with themselves.
Otherwise all is well here, we are heading to the movie with the group in Madrid for the afternoon. We have one more day of class this week and then off to Barcelona! I can´t believe it! Oh my gosh, so a group of us went shopping for a bathing suit...they were on sale and we wanted a new one for Barcelona...if you have never tried on European bathing suits before...it´s a perfect way to destroy your self confidence! HA! It wasn´t that they didn´t fit...it is just that they are quite...small....as in there isn´t much to them...but since most go topless I guess it is better than that. I think a washclothe would have covered more! We got a good laugh out of it and said absolutely not!
I don´t know much else, getting excited for school in Tucson, I´m looking forward to seeing everyone and getting back into a routine. Being here is sortof surreal...it doesn´t feel like it is a part of my life. It more or less feels like I have stepped out of my own life and that my real life is merely on pause. It is a strange feeling, but has given me a really interesting perspective. I suppose that is the "life changing" part of studying abroad.
Vida, Amor, Viaje...y chicos Americanos
