Last night I met Patrick (London/Caribbean) and Rachel (New York City) on the roof of the hotel, and they asked if they could join me on my adventure to Sarnath. It is only 15km from Varanasi and is where Buddha gave his first sermon. It was mildly difficult to get there, because of the insistent taxi and minibus drivers wanting to charge us exorbent amounts to go such a short distance. We also could not find the local 10 rupee bus. Once we arrived there (200 rupees round-trip by autorickshaw) we had a relaxing but hot day.
