Met up with the Contiki tour at hotel in Anaheim where stayed the night and at 7.30 in the morning we were off on the first part of the trip! It was a relatively short drive through Southern California down to San Diego and only took a couple of hours to get there. The weather was a bit of a disappointment when we arrived as it was v cloudy which was a shame as the first thing we did was a Harbour Cruise. That was good but would have been much nicer on a sunny day! I also had a bit of an amusing start to the trip as the night before the tour started i whacked my head on the TV stand and got a cut just above my eye so must have made an interesting first impression with a plaster over my eyebrow!

After the harbour cruise we popped over the Mexican border to Tijuana, which is very famous border town. I expected it to be bit dodgier than it was although we had been warned to stick to the main tourist areas so no doubt would have been different if had ventured into different areas of the town. We had lunch in Tijuana, i went for my usual of chicken fajitas! It was quite a crazy restaurant and lots of tequila (free) was downed but I opted out of the public spectacle as thought 12.30 was little early for that much tequila!!! Had a few hours to explore Tijuana and do a bit of shopping. It was a fun afternoon but less fun was the US Customs/Immigration queue to get back over the border!

Went to another crazy place for dinner, defintely not a typical restaurant but was a lot of fun! The waiters are rude on purpose and its a tradition for all the guests to throw paper napkins at each other, so that was a good ice breaker! After that went out to a bar to see a rock band and had a good night. Was good chance to get to know people from the tour and have a few drinks!

San Diego seemed like a really nice city, was was even nicer when the sun did come out! Did a bit of a tour of the city and saw some of the main areas like some of the beaches and also Balboa Park which were all very nice. Had a full day to spend in San Diego and decided to go to the Zoo as had heard it was very cool. A big group of us went and was good chance to get to know some of the people from the tour. It was an amazing zoo, really well done and massive! My faves were prob the polar bears and the pandas! Could have spent much longer there! There was also cool gondola/cable car thing called the Skyfari which gave amazing view of the city and was a lot of fun.
