So after an easy flight and expensive taxi ride, Emily and I made it to our hostel, which wasn't the nicest...It was really small with lots of people, but cheap and close to the colosseum. We met Max there and had dinner down the street (pizza and wine). Went to bed early that night so that we could get up and explore the town! It was raining and overcast most of Saturday, but the weather didnt deter us from heading straight to Vatican City (which is its own country by the way). We waited in a long line to get into St. Peters Basillica (church with artwork) then headed to the Sistine Chapel. We waited about 2 hours to get inside there, where you (after paying 8euro) wind through the Vatican Museum until you reach the chapel at the end. It was all pretty amazing, mainly because  Michaelangelo somehow painted all of that on the ceiling. We stopped to have crepes for lunch then made our way back to the hostel. We made our way by the Treve fountain (really pretty, but soo many people), the Pantheon (dome shaped building that could fit a perfect sphere) and walked the Spanish steps (my legs are still sore!).  After a quick nap we ate more Italian food (delicious tortellini with a cream sauce) then hung out in our hostel which ended up being really social. We met two girls from Australia who had been traveling all over the US and Europe and entertained us with their crazy stories. Saturday we slept in a bit and had an excellent breakfast at a cafe (nutella filled croissants and cappucinos) then headed to the colosseum. There were sooo many people (lots of tour groups of nuns) there waiting in line, and people dressed as gladiators it felt like Disneyland or something. We walked around it and saw inside, but didnt wait in the 3 hour line/pay the 11euro to get in. We walked to the forum which is a bunch of ruins of what used to be a city. It was so cool! Just brickwork, doors and columns everywhere. We also hiked to the top of a building to get a view of the city. On our way back to the hostel we stopped in shops (all too expensive) and had lunch at a little cafe. On our walk back to the hostel we ended up going through some sort of protest with a bunch of pretty balloons and took some pictures. We  went to sleep early that night in order to catch the plane on Sunday. Busy weekend, but Im so glad I ended up going to Rome, it was well worth it!
