Chichen Itza (aka 'Chicken Pizza') is an amazing experience. However, make sure you wear a little clothes as possible and take a fair supply of water with you, because it can be very hot and exhausting walking around with the sun beating directly on you.
Taking a guided tour is interesting because you learn a lot about the playing field and the pyramids.
You are not allowed to climb the pyramids anymore, which was disappointing, because some people are rude and incosiderate and feel the need to deface the ancient artifacts with graffiti. Plus, some of them are simply starting to fall apart.
Beware: There are locals everywhere and they are not shy to approach you for money.
