320140 4 Location 627346 <p>We arrived at Hotel Liburna for a weeks holiday and we were what can only be described as aprehensive. The reviews of this hotel are generally terrible and I think that this does not give a full reflection of the hotel.</p> <p>I would say 90% of the staff are helpful and friendly - there was one rather moody bar maid but you can get over that, the rooms were clean and large.&nbsp; Yes they could do with some updating and if you are expecting a hotel of ultra modern standard then you won't find it here, however the beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was clean and the shower very powerful, there was plenty of room for storage and we had a balconly.&nbsp; Our balconly was overlooking the car park so wasn't the best view but you had to pay extra fora&nbsp; sea view and to be fair we didn't really use it that much.</p> <p>The hotel is very close to the sea&nbsp; only a few steps down, there is no beach but this is the same across the majority of the island, its a 10 min walk to the centre of town where there are plenty of bars and restuarants and you can catch the boat to varius places.&nbsp; In all honesty there isn't that much to do in Korcula when the sun isnt shining but its a very pretty and quaint little town.</p> <p>There is a very small plunge type pool with a range of sun loungers around it, this is nice for a few afternoons and the pool is nice for having a mess around in!</p> <p>We had to go half board which wasn't something that we really wanted but we were plesently surprised, the breakfast was totally sufficient with a selction of bread, chesse, ham, cereals and fresh fruit there was also eggs and some frankfurt sausages (I didn;t really understand them)</p> <p>Dinner was a bit more hit and miss, there was always selection of at least 5 different types of meat with a range of fresh vegetables cooked in a variety of ways and always fresh salad, there was also a range of soups!&nbsp; I would also say that the views from the hotel restuarant were spectacular!</p> <p>We ate in 4 nights of the holiday and 3 were very nice, one was a bit random.&nbsp; the puddings were where I would say the food fell down with ice cream and some very small pastries, however it is a good chance to go into the town to get coffee and cake or even a cocktail.</p> <p>In conclusion we felt that Korcula is a nice place for a week but would recomend that you get out and explore cos there isn't that much to do - we went to Orebic, Lumbarda, and hired a car to explore the island, in reference to the hotel it was far superior to what we were expecting and if we were to find ourselves in Korcula again we would definatly stay there, it is a really nice hotel with very nice staff, yes it needs updating but if you consider the history of the island and the length of time tourism has been prevelent in the country I think it explains it more.</p> 2009-06-29T03:21:24-07:00 580911117 2009-06-21T00:00:00-07:00 0 0 288183 320140 0 0.0 2009-06-21T00:00:00-07:00 0.0 2009-06-29T03:21:24-07:00 120840 0
