351191 4 Location 563849 <p>For some reason, it was no easy task trying to secure a place to stay in New York for our yearly weekend pilgrimage. So, my husband turned to Craig's List and responded to a woman renting her apartment on the Upper East Side for $134.00/night. We went for it. And we were glad!</p><p>Yes, it was a very, VERY tiny studio apartment. There is no turn down service-no mint on the pillow--no spa or luxurious amenities. There is the aspect of being in someone's home--sleeping in their bed, glancing at the CD's and books stacked on a wall of shelves. It's a little uncomfortable though the apartment's owner assured us to use the fridge and kitchen. We recommend it, at least once. You really do feel like part of the big city tapestry. </p><p>The neighborhoods are a bit quieter than being on main drags. The restaurants are better. You find yourself in the middle of weekend street fairs and school cookouts.
