162029 4 Location 530489 In researching for our trip, I found this little three star hotel with a #1 rating out of 518 hotels in Florence on the www.tripadvisor.com web site. We were not disappointed as it is in the heart of the old part of Florence and is a matter of only a few minutes walking to go most anywhere there. One thing future guests must be aware of is that there is a stairway from ground (street) level to the first floor where there is an elevator to the 2nd floor where reception is located. This is not a problem unless stairs are something that can't be handled. The family that run this hotel are really the friendliest of any that we encountered on our trip. They are genuinely interested and never hesitate to offer advise when asked or answer any questions. They procured Uffuzi museum reservations for us before we arrived and gave excellent recommendations for dinner. I will review the eateries seperately. Breakfast buffet was also included in the price of our room here as was 6:30 p.m. Happy Hour. Evening Happy Hour was a nice touch and the buffet was adequate in the morning though the cappacino/espresso were excellent. There were free internet and movies (the free internet a definite plus!). http://www.hoteldavanzati.it/ I would recommend this hotel to friends who might be going to Florence but I would suggest they ask for a room at the front of the building. We were in room# 101 which is a very comfortable room but was located on the first floor in the rear of the building where it backs up to other buildings. That caused it to be very dark with not much natural light.
