Patry's review

Hotel Oscar: Excellent, inexpensive hotel.

We arrived at Hotel Oscar after an excellent visit/stay in tiny Tolo- a beautiful resort town in Southern Greece.  After an excellent time relaxing in a small Greek town, we were ready to take on Athens.  Hotel Oscar was in an excellent location, only metres away from the underground, situated near the Greek National Museum.  The hotel was centrally located between the 2004 Olympic Park and the Plaka- both just a few underground stops away.  The rooms were very nice and clean with dark hardwood decor and a patio door with balcony on each room.  A couple of my friends who lucked into a corner unit had an amazing room with a balcony surrounding two sides of their room, and two large patio doors.  The room was also larger than mine (but I was still quite happy with my "cozy" room).  The breakfasts were excellent with a combination of Canadian/European foods: bacon, eggs, pasteries, coffee, tea, creamy European hot chocolate, toast, cereal, and mini quiche.  A pool was on the rooftop of the hotel, but it was closed in April (despite it being warmer than what I was accustomed to back home) overlooking the accropolis and many of the great Athenian landmarks.  Overall, for a price much cheaper than the cookie-cutter style chain hotels and with 10X the charm, Hotel Oscar is a great deal in Athens.
