351230 5 Location 523015 <p>Have you heard about the Boka Kotorska Bay (or the Bay of Kotor) in Montenegro? I was not familiar with the place at all when suddenly decided to explore that region since I was on vacation in Dubrovnik, Croatia. Well Boka Kotorska (or the Bay of Kotor as it is often translated) is located in Montenegro close to Croatian border, just 45 km far from Dubrovnik. Simply to say the bay is a true master work of nature. Astonishing and beautiful blend of mountains and sea. Pictures speak for themselves. One can find a lot of useful information about the Bay of Kotor through simple internet search. I would suggest one site that provides concise information: <a href="/go?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bestofboka.com%2F&tracking=external" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.bestofboka.com</a>&nbsp;Before I went there used this site to find the accommodation during my stay in Boka Kotorska. I have managed to find nice apartment for a favourable price, just 20e per day for two persons. The apartment is situated within a private house on excellent location in Herceg-Novi. You can find more information about this accommodation on: <a href="/go?l=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.sobe-hercegnovi.com%2F&tracking=external" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">www.sobe-hercegnovi.com</a> . So I have chosen Herceg-Novi to be my ‘base’ while visiting the bay. The reason for this is simple, it is close to Croatian border, bus connections are very good and more over Herceg-Novi is the most beautiful city in the bay. To explore the whole Boka Kotorska bay you need at least three days, each for one of the three major cities in the bay (Herceg-Novi, Kotor and Tivat) and often this is still not enough. I must say that I made a mistake for staying longer time in Dubrovnik, because this city is more expensive than Herceg-Novi. So, to everybody who intent to visit Dubrovnik I would recommend to take accommodation in Herceg-Novi where you will not only enjoy the remarkable nature of Boka Kotorska, but will spend less money for accommodation and still be able to visit all these other beautiful places on the other side of boarder in Croatia. Apart from visiting Dubrovnik and the Bay of Kotor one can also explore hinterland of the bay, territory of the old Montenegro with its capitol Cetinje, mountain Lovcen and monastery Ostrog. So I was in Boka Kotorska during October, the weather was mild and pleasant. I was told that the summer is also good time to enjoy this place, only there it is too crowdy ie.
