382083 3 Location 517626 <p>Sol de Ica was OK. <br /></p><p>There was nothing really to complain about, and it wasn't too expensive. The rooms were pretty clean, though very small. The only trouble was the very thin walls. Not that anyone else was having enough fun in Sol de Ica to keep me awake, but Peruvian drivers are compulsive honkers. They cannot drive without constant honking, and that makes the thin walls and too convenient downtown location a bit annoying. <br /></p><p>The hotel staff was very nice, but despite that and some pretty flowers, the hotel oozed mediocrity. Once nice tough, however, was the enormous Incan totem key chains. The nights do get a bit chilly in Ica during the winter, so you might consider burning your key chain for warmth.<br /></p><p>If you've got the cash, stay at Hotel las Dunas, which from what I saw was incredible. It backs up to the Ica dunes, offers sand boarding, entertainment and has its own museum. <br /></p><p>Since there isn't much to do in Ica, it might be a good time to splurge, though the difference is considerable. For budget trips, one could do much worse than El Sol.
