377119 5 Location 512256 <p>Posada del Bosque was a lovely little bed and breakfast down the coast from Colonia town, surrounded by eucalyptus, hybiscus and palm trees. We booked for two nights, but impressed our hosts by asking to stay for three. After the constant traffic noise of the rattly collectivo buses in Buenos Aires, this was the essence of peace. The only sound at night were the dogs barking around us and for the first two nights we had the whole Posada to ourselves.</p><p>It was lovely to sit and watch the sunset under the gum trees on the beach, then walk back up to the posada, looking out for fireflies and trying to shake the usual following dog, along the way.</p><p>Our hosts, Norma and Heber were quite the characters; very quiet and polite but as warm and friendly like an aunt and uncle. Heber reminded me of Don Quixote. He had half a finger missing and I got my first Spanish joke when I asked him to call a taxi for us at ten (diez) by holding up 10 fingers. He mirrored my action in response, but as he had half a finger missing, he looked at his hands and said, 'Oh, nine thirty.´ (nueve y media).</p><p>Each day we stayed, the breakfasts got bigger and better. The second day we had five pieces of toast each, instead of three, and a huge pot of coffee. On the last day we got a huge pot of coffee again, and a massive basket of croissaints and pastries. This morning the Posada was full of people (Argentinians we presumed) starting their Summer holidays.
