After the Second World War, the property was confiscated from its owners and the present building was constructed in 1958 to serve as a rest home for Government officials. However, after a short time, it was decided that the Villa should become a hotel open to the public.</p><p>The hotel Villa Dubrovnik was enlarged and modernized, and rapidly became one of the best hotels in the former state, winning numerous national and international awards for its high standards. Almost all the guest were from abroad. Many guests returned year after year which gave the hotel a unique and almost club-like atmosphere.
