382208 1 Location 487016 I thought I would have a great day kayaking through Abel Tasman and, to be fair, it started off great.  Abel Tasman is beautiful!  But the wind picked up quickly to about 50kph and our group was unfortunately heading right into it.  We kept going past other kayakers heading in the opposite direction and having the time of their life, which made it worse.  After getting exhausted and miserable kayaking into this crazy wind near the rocky coastline, we stopped at a beach for lunch. The entire group asked our guide if we could head back in the direction we came so we could ride on a tailwind, but he said no, we would have to keep going or pay $50 for a watertaxi ride back.  So we kept going until it was physically impossible to make any headway in the wind.  At the beach, our stupid guide told us we would have to walk back the rest of the way even though their boat was coming to pick up the kayaks.  So, exhausted, we started to hike up the mountain as we watched our boats (but not us unless we wanted to pay extra) get taken back to the company's base.  Worst of all, the company gave no apologies and the owners were unnecessarily defensive.  Southern Exposure, you suck! 2007-04-12T13:04:16-07:00 970981408 2007-03-17T17:00:00-07:00 0 18 185469 4262629 382208 0 211515 0.0455923091401127 2007-03-16T17:00:00-07:00 Published 20.0 2007-05-07T20:59:36-07:00 100816 0
