Breezes Jibacoa is an adults only resort located between Varadero and Havana. It is 30 minutes away from Havana so it is a great place to stay if you wish to explore outside of the resort and head into the city. Second time visitors might enjoy a change from Varadero as Jibacoa is more secluded and closer to nature. Breezes Jibacoa is the only resort in the entire surrounding area and is nestled in the Yumuri forest. If you are into the night life, I would not recommend this resort as when the lights go out, star gazing is your only form of entertainment asides from the short entertainment in the theatre.

The resort is not too large but offers all of the amenities. The rooms are laid out in 2 storey bungalows with very spacious rooms. The ocean is great for snorkelling as there is a coral reef a short distance from the shore. Unlike Varadero where the beaches an sea life have been trampled on, Jibacoa is rich in marine life from the shore.

A local guide takes you on morning hikes up the mountain where you can witness breath taking views of the surrounding ocean and forests. You can also visit a local farm and sample coconut and oranges. Another fun trip is the scooter right up the mountain to see the sunset. It is a bit scary but highly recommended.

When we were there, our daily visitors were the grazing bull that was hanging out in the parking lot and the chickens drinking from the pond. If you're up for a laid back stay and comfortable with a few stray animals, I would highly recommend this resort.
