362298 Location 470514 <p>Between January and May 2006, thirteen visits to the university hospital for full preventative and restorative dental work. Treatment included crowns, bridges, and replacement of amalgam fillings with enamel.</p><p>The actual monetary figure was the same as in a western country, but different currency and exchange rate. This effectively meant that compared to say the American dollar, I paid one eighth of the regular amount, without insurance rebates.</p><p>Completely professional treatment was rendered. The doctor took great pride in her work. She mastered a few English words so we could communicate. For example, "open", "close", "rinse" and "persist".</p><p>I had only had one crown previously done in my home country. It turned out to have been fitted poorly, so we replaced it. There was normally at least ten days between preparatory work and placement of permanent crowns.</p><p>Except for regular check ups, I should not have any major tooth problems for say the next twenty years or more. An analogy can be drawn between dental (&amp; other health treatment for that matter ) and travelling.
