After 10 nights in accomodations that had some feeling that you were in a foreign country (i.e., not in the USA), we arrived at the Hilton Narita and immediately knew we were on the way home. The huge lobby, the huge room and the prices in the dining rooms were a dead giveaway. And then asking for $25 for the use of the pool (and another $25 for use in the morning) - well, that was over the top (or under the bottom). At least they ran a free shuttle bus into the town of Narita every 40-50 minutes - we found a noodle shop close to the Narita train station that served up a fine dinner for 3 of us for significantly less than the price of one meal at the Hilton.

And, after contacting the manager, we were allowed to use the pool for an hour or so in the evening and another hour in the morning without charge - probably only because we had an 8-year old with us. It was clearly a hotel built on expense accounts, so they can probably get away with charging for everything. But nothing on their website indicated a charge for the pool - so be aware.

The mattress was fine, and the room quiet even though the main (and only) runway of Tokyo-Narita airport was in clear view of our room. The room carpet could have been cleaner, however.

The breakfast buffet may have been the best of the entire trip - a multitude of western and Japanese items. Knowing that we were flying out early in the afternoon, I opted for the B+B rate - not that much above the regular room rate - and certainly cheaper than paying for the buffet separately (and kids do eat free). And take note- basically no place else to eat in the area without taking the shuttle bus into the town of Narita (or to the airport).

All in all, its an acceptable place to stay when you need a place close to the airport.
