<body>The centre is located in Te Anau and the signs around the enclosures promise all kinds of birds for viewing. Most of the enclosures were empty but we did see some wood pidgeons, red-headed parrots, paradise shell ducks, and a very old takahe. Now that was really worth seeing, the Takahe is very endangered and just getting to see one is a real treat. This one according to the sign, was named Alpine and was so old that some times she would fall to the ground in grotesque positions. If you as a visitor was to see her frozen in what appeared to be a bizarre death position, just alert the staff and I guess they would provide the appropriate aid.</body>
