Good variety of food, interesting location, and English menus too!

Bar La Ópera and Cafe Tacuba were the two places I really wanted to visit whilst in Mexico City, so I spent lunch here, and then dinner in the evening at Cafe Tacuba.

After only a short stroll from my hotel - approx. 10 minutes - at Alameda Central, I arrived at the restaurant, which I walked past at first glance.  I was expecting something fancy outside, but it looks fairly normal outside - all the fancy work is inside.

My experience here mirrored my Mexico City experiences - no waiters spoke English, and I spoke 0% Spanish.  Fortunately they had English menus, and I was able somehow to find out what their specialities were - some kind of pork dish, and the one I chose, Mexican Beef Fillets (not the actual name of the dish!).  Not too spicy, and quite filling.  I quite enjoyed the meal.  Tried a Michelada for drink - basically a Corona, with a glass containing lime juice with it, and salt around the edge of the glass.  Not a big fan, but I did like the Corona.  Not a big beer or wine drinker, but I really liked Mexican beers - not bitter, and quite tasty.

My book told me also to look out for a bullet hole in the ceiling, supposedly made by Pancho Villa, a Mexican revolutionary.
