First of all - how did i find myself hitchiking? the answer is long but
i'll make it short - neta and i left ushuaia to el calafate planing
and hoping to find partners to rent a car with to do the cartera
austral. the cartera is ruta 7 in chile - and before doing it i was
told it is all about the road, and the truth is that i didn't
understand what they ment till i did it. anyhow at el calafate we found
partners that didn't want to rent a car but wanted to hitchike - so i
found my self on a bus from calafate to los antigos with 3 more guys
from tel aviv: daniel, yoav and tom.
after a 24 hour ride we found ourself in chile chico, chile, the first we needed was to draw out of the bank some local cash, but 5 min after we got there a ride came that 2 places so tom and i went on our way pennyless and without a clue where we are heading or where we want to get to. so the first ride droped us at a building site far from any town. for the first time after a month in south america it was a hot sunny day with out a cloud in the sky - the way summer should be. so we were lucky for not having rain but it so hot and there was no shade any where close. anyhow not to long after another ride stoped and again we were on our way, this time it a was a small and old privte car, so i sat at the back with all our bags on me (that's 2 big backpucks each about 15 kg and 2 small bags filled with food for the next 4 days or so), that ride didn't last long and again we where stuck in the middle of nowhere far from any town. they say 3 time is a charm - in our case it was almost - this time again a privte stopped and again we had our bags on us but it took us to the town that we wanted to get to hoping to meet neta, daniel and yoav. the truth is it took us 2 km from the town, so again we needed another ride because 2 km with all our bags in the sun is crazy!!! so again we wait.... about 15 min later a truck stopes and how is on it if not neta and the guys! lady luck on our side we all met up and now stoped at puerto gudal to camp for the night. pureto gudal was a small place but filled with happy drank people, at least the food was eatable, and the empandas even good! and after a good meal we went to sleep in our tent on the beach.
