Photo “Paradise in Poipu - staying on the ocean”

Poipu is really small, intimate, friendly, and beautiful. The locals call it the "Sunny South side" becuase the weather here is supposed to always be great. I believe it is.

The ocean is expansive, and there are so many water sports here. Diving, snorkelling, paddling an outrigger, sightseeing, fishing, playing on the beach, hiking in the nearbye mountains. Some people call it paradise. I would tend to agree.

While here, on the ocean walk, we saw a bunch of people gathered at Makahuena Point, about 1000 feet from the complex. We walked up to see what was going on, and as we did, we heard these giant thundering clapping noises off in the distance. It was so loud, it felt and sounded like buildings falling.

To our amazement, it was a series of whales that were hurdling themselves up in the air, then slamming down in the water. Never did I see something so spectacular, as these giant, Winnebago-sized creatures flipping around in seemingly slow motion. It was pure awe!
